Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and send you some recent photos. I've had quite an experience this morning, as my whole house began to sway! I ran and called my friend up the road to see if her house was moving and that it wasn't my imagination! She said that yes we had just had an earthquake!
We had no damage, except to my nerves. Don's in Australia on business so I've informed my friend that I may be up to her house if we get anymore. This southern girl doesn't know how to handle the ground moving. Hurricanes yes, earthquakes-no, at least I can drive away from a storm!
Oh well, what's one more new experience! I did have a wonderful experience last week. Don and I found a new beach to visit. It's about 20 minutes away on the peninsula. We had to walk through a couple of sheep pastures and down a huge sand dune to get there. It's very wind swept with high cliffs and rocks at both ends. There's wild flowers growing all over the dunes (yellow lupines and fuschia asters) and the air smelt wonderful.
When we finally got down to the shore there were sea lions lying on the beach! We got close enough so that I could get some photos with my zoom (they're very dangerous and fast). Yellow-eyed penquins also come up on this beach at night. We didn't stay around to wait on them, didn't want to have to tip toe around the sea lions in the dark or tramp up the sand dune without being able to see the path!
We will be celebrating Thanksgiving, but not until Sunday. We'll be joining some folks for dinner. Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!
Love to all,
Cindy
