Here's a few photos, taken just before Easter 2005. We haven't been too many places lately so I don't have a lot of photos to share. I wished the penquin shots were better but my zoom isn't that powerful and we were a distance away.
Tell everyone hello in the choir. I wish I could be there with you all. It sure is strange being here for Easter. I did get to sing with the city choir last Sunday which was an experience. It's very big and they had an orchestra, which was good, but not home.
I hope all is well and that warmer weather has finally arrived. Are the dogwoods in bloom? I do so love spring time in NC, with all of the red buds, daffodils and yellow bells in bloom. Fall has arrived here and we turned the clocks back last Saturday.
We had an interesting few months with several visitors coming to call. First we had Don's nephew, wife and 3 children. Our place is small so the Mom & Dad stayed at a motel and we had the kids, ages 12, 11 & 9. It was a lot of fun and it was nice having so much energy in the house.
Next we had the good fortune to meet a young man from NC, thanks to Jenny. His name is Andrew Roe and he's an exchange student from UNC. He'll be studying here in Dunedin until June. We picked him up at the airport and then just decided to "adopt" him! What a nice young man and I've thoroughly enjoyed having him around and feeding him! Don jokes with him a lot and encourages him to come over for meals, saying that I cook more when he's over for dinner. He seems to be enjoying his time at school and has taken several trips exploring the country. We are going to try to watch some of the NCAA this weekend on ESPN. Sometimes we can see the games but other times there's other sports on like cricket, soccer or juggling!
We then had a friend from Oriental, NC stay for a week. She had been backpacking for 6 weeks and her nerves were fried, so we took her in and let her calm down before her trip back home. I don't think I could have done what she did for 6 weeks on her own. I think she had a good time seeing the country but she was completely exhausted by the time she reached us.
I've decided to go back to work and I start real estate classes in 2 weeks. The classes are taught in another city and I'll have to fly up there to take them. Hopefully I'll pass the test, they do things so differently! I've already been offered a job and will be working for Century 21 as soon as I get my license. Keep your fingers crossed.
Don and I visited a penquin reserve and I got to see several of them. The biggest thrill was watching one walk into shore. We also saw some seals and sea lions. I'm e-mailing Bill some photos, so that he can put them on the site for all of you to see. I'm also sending some photos from a drive that I did, still can't believe I drove up and down that hill. The view's beautiful.
I can't believe it's Easter and I'll be thinking about you all a lot. We plan to go out to the peninsula for sunrise Easter morning. I just hope it doesn't rain. We're one of the first places in the world to see the new day, which sort of blows my mind when I think about.
Just want to let you know that I'll be back in NC on June 3 - July 8. I can't wait and I'm really looking forward to seeing all of you.
Take care of yourselves and know that you're in my thoughts and prayers. Have a wonderful Easter.
Love to all,
Cindy
