Not-so-Newlywed Game 2002

Following two successful events, the Youth will again put on a Valentine’s fund raising dinner on February 16, 2002, starting at 6:00pm in the Community Building.  The dinner and entertainment will cost $15.00 per person, $25 per couple.  Please fill out a reservation form and hand it in by Sunday, February 10 (no reservations accepted after that date).  Only 80 seats, so get your reservation in early.  For entertainment there is a “Not-so-Newlywed Game”.  As this is fund-raiser, the three couples, to be asked “interesting questions,” will be selected by vote.  The vote will be made by donations made to the Youth.

The nomination rules are:

1)      Any newlywed, not-so-newlywed or soon-to-be-married couple can be nominated.

2)      Voting in favor occurs by making a “nominating donation” to the Youth.

3)      Any couple that would like to avoid being selected can make “declination contributions” to the Youth to have votes removed.

4)      Early contributions count more.  Six weeks ahead, each dollar donated (nominating or declination) is worth six votes.  Five weeks ahead, five votes. Up to the week before the cut-off when a dollar is worth two votes.  During the last week, seven days before the game, $1 = seven votes, six days ahead, $1 = six votes down to the day of the game, it’s one vote per dollar.

5)      Any “declination votes” subtract from the “nominating votes”.

6)      Contributions can be made starting on Sunday, January 6.

7)      The twelve couples with the most “nominating votes”, minus “declinations votes” through Saturday, February 9, will be in a final run-off election..  Names of the twelve couples will be made public in Church on Sunday, February 10.  Any contributions after the 9th should be for one of those couples.

8)      Donations (both nominating and declining) for selection of the final three couples will be accepted up until the end of the dinner on February 16, just before the game starts.

9)      Brenda Young, Ray deFriess and Bill Waddell will collect donations.

10)  Computations by these folks will be final.

11)  Up-to-the-minute donation status will be available from Bill Waddell.  Home phone: 919-942-3344.  Daily status reports will be posted on the church web site.

Gail Smith will be the emcee unless she’s in one of the couples (a definite possibility).  A guest emcee will fill in as needed.  Plan on coming to the dinner and enjoying the entertainment.

This year, all money raised will go to pay for members of the youth to go to camp, ASP, or other mission trips.
