Not-So-Newlywed Game 2007

Following seven successful annual fund-raisers, the Youth will again host a fund raising dinner on Saturday February 17, 2007, starting at 6:00pm in the Community Building. Dinner and entertainment will cost $20 per person, $30 per couple. Please fill out a reservation form by Sunday, February 11 (no reservations accepted after that date). Only 80 seats, so make your reservation early. Entertainment is a round of the “Not-So-Newlywed Game”. As this is fund-raiser, three lucky couples, selected by vote, will be asked to “get on stage” for the youth. Voting will be made by donations made to the Youth.

The nomination rules are:

1) Any couple (married or not) can be nominated.

2) Voting in favor occurs by making a “nominating donation” to the Youth.

3) Anyone can make “declination contributions” to have votes removed.

4) Any “declination votes” subtract from the “nominating votes”.

5) The nine couples with the most “nominating votes”, minus “declinations votes” through Saturday, February 10, will be in a final run-off election. Names of the 9 couples will be made public in Church on Sunday, February 11. Any contributions after the 11th should be for one of those folks.

6) Early contributions count more. Seven weeks ahead, each dollar donated (nominating or declination) is worth seven votes. six weeks ahead, six votes. Up to the week before the cut-off when a dollar is worth two votes. During the last week, after the cut-off, it’s 7 votes/$ on Sunday, 6 votes/$ on Monday decreasing to the day of the play, it’s one vote per dollar.

7) Contributions can be made starting on Sunday, December 31.

8) On the play night, any couple can be added with a donation of $100. The added couple will have the same number of votes they had the preceding Saturday. A couple in the running may remove themselves by declining votes down to zero and making a further donation of $100. Once removed, they cannot be re-added.

9) Donations for selection of the final three couples will be accepted up until the end of the dinner on February 17, just before the game starts.

10) Kelly Holmes, Ray deFriess and Bill Waddell will collect donations. Their computations are final.

Jonathon deFriess will be the MC unless he’s “selected” (unlikely as he has no girlfriend). A guest MC will fill in as needed. Come to the dinner, enjoy the entertainment and support the Youth. This year, all money raised will go to pay for members of the youth to go to camp, ASP, or other mission trips.
